Prescott Valley, AZ – The Arizona Sundogs fell to the Denver Cutthroats in a 3-2 loss at Tim’s Toyota Center Tuesday night.
A.J. Gale and Luke Fulghum both registered the first two goals of the evening for Denver, giving them the early lead in the first. The second period was relatively quiet with Denver receiving one power play opportunity when Arizona’s Kevin Petovello was called for hooking seven minutes into the period.
Arizona rallied back in the final 20 minutes when Adam Smyth scored his first goal of the season, assists by Cody Purves and Karl Linden, igniting the Sundogs. Purves scored his second point of the evening and the game equalizer when he tallied a goal with seven minutes left. The Cutthroats quickly followed with their third goal when Troy Schwab was credited with the game winning goal.
David Brown took the loss for the Sundogs. The Cutthroats outshot the Sundogs 22-21 and neither team scored on the power play. The Sundogs host Rapid City Rush in a two game home stand beginning Friday, December 7.
